Michael Imperioli
Born in New York in 1966, Michael Imperioli began his acting career in 1988, and landed the role of Michael “Spider” Gianco in Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas”, where his character was shot in the foot by Joe Pesci.
Michael has appeared in more than 40 movies, but he is no stranger to television either, being best know for the role of Christopher Moltisanti on ‘The Sopranos’. Imperioli was nominated for five Emmy Awards for his work on The Sopranos and won once, in 2004 for the show’s fifth season. Michael also wrote several episodes of the show, as well as penning the screenplay to the motion picture “Summer of Sam”.
Although many of Michael’s characters are on the wrong side of the law, he also has experience behind the badge, playing Detective Nick Falco on TV’s “Law and Order”, and most recently appearing as Detective Ray Carling on the series “Life on Mars”.
Imperioli plays the role of Detective Louis Fitch. Fitch is a 10-year vet of the Detroit P.D. and is often regarded as the smartest guy in the room. His mantra? “I don’t work for the dead. I work for the living.” Fitch is a master in the interrogation room, and has drawn a confession out of a suspect without saying a word.
Fitch has the highest solve rate in the squad, but his dedication comes at a price. With a bunch of failed relationships, he’s a prime example of what happens when you don’t keep the balance. Fitch is not what you’d call a people person. Make a mistake, and he’ll let you know it. Now he’s got a brand spankin’ new partner. And, as you may have guessed, the new guy gets on his nerves.

I am from the Detroit Metro area, and I thought Detroit 187 rocked! Continue to keep up the great work!
Stacy Brand on September 22, 2010
Having lived in the Detroit Metro area for over 30 years, it’s nice to see Detroit finally receiving some positive recognition! The show is very well done and hopefully it will continue to give our city a much brighter outlook for the future!
derek smith on September 26, 2010
Some influence from homicide, the wire, and law and order make this a series to watch. The only downside would seem that they have chosen a ‘short American attention span’ approach instead of the long story arc. Thanks for making Michigan look as interesting and nuanced as it is in real life.
barbara batchelor on October 6, 2010
I absolut love detroit 187. Michael imperioli is great. I loved him in the sopranos. But I seen him in a magazine advertising 1800 tequila. And boy was he hot!!!!!!
E.L. Eldredge on October 6, 2010
Wow, when the action starts, the semi-heavy metal music kicks in and the show really gets moving. I feel this is the best new show on T.V., period. I know what Detroit used to be like, what it’s like know having live up that way for 5 years back in the 70′s. This show is now one of my new best friends. Thanks!
Bill Stevens on October 13, 2010
Great show but what is up with all the commercials????
derek smith on October 14, 2010
hey… they got my man Botey in from the Wire!!!! The story arc widens and the show is turning into a hybrid of Homicide: life on the streets and the Wire. Nice combo folks.
Micheal’s performance it top notch and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
mary on October 27, 2010

DETROIT 187COULD BE A GOOD SHOW BUT THE
MUSIC IS TOO MUCH. YOU CANNOT HEAR THE
DIALOUGE. ALSO, THE SCENES JUMP TO QUICK
AND TOO MUCH.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION.

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE this show!! Never miss it!! Michael is my favorite actor on the show…..
Tammy on November 15, 2010
LOVE THE SHOW! Love Michael, too! I loved him in the Sopranos, and was worried that I couldn’t switch that character off in my mind and enjoy the new one, but it has been easy. The sign of a great actor, to be believable in different roles. I grew up in the Motor City and am glad it is getting the financial boost from filming there.
suzy on November 24, 2010
I agree with everybody, I can hardly wait every week for the next new episode. But for a one hour show it sure flies by. I record it on my DVR and can never decide if I want to just jump right into it or hold on to it so I don’t have to wait so long to the next weeks show. And oh yes Michael makes every minute worth the wait!!! yummy!!!
Joe Cochran on December 7, 2010
At this moment time this the best show of any kind on television. Every actor on this production fits the bill. Michael Imperioli may become one of America’s greatest actors of note. Given the correct movie vehicle television won’t be able to keep him.
Lou on December 8, 2010
Although I enjoyed him in The Sopranos, it wasn’t until I saw him in For One More Day that I began to appreciate his talent. Now as Fitch he is in my opinion the best actor on television. If you enjoy him and the show, let ABC know now before they make a huge, sad mistake.
Liya on December 8, 2010
Great show! Please, please, please keep it going. I don’t even like the cops movies, but I’m totally adicted to this show. Great job creators and actors!
Trudy on December 8, 2010
I can’t wait each week for a new episode of Detroit 187. I’m beginning to really get to know all the characters. Michael Imperioli is an excellent actor and I can’t wait to find out more about Detective Fitch. I’m always looking to see where they are in the city and if I know where it is. The stories are interesting. I said to my husband, “is Detroit really this bad?” he said, “honey it’s worse!” Maybe the show might help make Detroit a better place. You can always hope.
Veronica on December 9, 2010
I really didn’t like the first pilot, but it has improved very much, I never stopped watching it, I even record it so I dont miss out on an episode. Love That Man Michael Imperioli’s character Fitch, I want to see more of him. =) Good Job to everyone on this show.

Detroit 1-8-7 is one of the best show on TV in YEARS. They are real people, with real life dialogue, James Longford and Michael Imperioli are perfect for this show..Have liked James ever since he walked off the set of Regis and Kathy Lee when Kathy opened her mouth and put both feet in it..was proud he stood up for his work!!!!
marinam on December 16, 2010
Great Show. Love the urban scenery. Michael Imperioli is a fantastic actor. He is making the show. I really hope they don’t cancel this.
Chey on December 17, 2010
I enjoy watching Detroit 187. I hope it stays on the air and are Sanchez and Fitch going to get together? I hope so, they make a great couple.
Mary on January 9, 2011
This show is getting better and better with each episode. Hope it stays on next year. Great acting.
theresa on January 13, 2011
I love the scenes of Detroit you work into the show and the iconic places, like the old train station, Greektown, and Brush Park. The Fitch character is really interesting, a combination of “good cop” and “I do it my way,” well-played by Michael Imperioli. I live in metro Detroit and love the city, despite its hard times. I’m glad to see our city in this show, but I think it would be better if you featured only one case per show instead of jumping back and forth between two cases, and I don’t like the loud background music. With great scripts and great actors, you don’t need the heavy metal and some of us older folks would be able to actually hear the dialogue. Let the great location (Detroit) and the great stories this city generates make Detroit 187 a hit.
Patsy on January 16th, 2011 on January 16, 2011
Michael Imperioli makes for great eye candy that’s why I watch the show. Dj Cotrona is reason # 2 that I watch it. Thanks for the show, I love it !!!
bonnie on January 16, 2011
great show, great actors and fabulous innuendos. hope for all of us this show stays. michael imperioli is awesome….has just gotten better since his “christofah” role.

Tina on January 17, 2011
Great Show, I haven’t missed an episode. I love Fitch. He reminds me of Columbo or Baretta. He has a great style and that’s what makes the show work, don’t change a thing. Love it!!!

I love this show, I love Michael Imperioli, I love the character Fitch. This is great TV drama!
Catherine Brooks on February 2, 2011
This is the BEST show since Law & Order. Michael Imperioli is FANTASTIC. I was raised outside of Detroit and feel the show is very realistic. I’ve never missed an episode and won’t. Please, keep it going !

Last evening, while I was at a basketball game, my wife had to make a decision of whether to record DETROIT 1-8-7 or ‘V’ for me. Three guess who won??? Just finished watching most recent episode. Keep it coming.
Sharo on February 10, 2011
I’m from Michigan, and I have to admit that’s why I watched the first episode. BUT the shop turned out to be my absolute favorite on TV right now. I can’t wait from week to week. I tape them and watch them again. Michael Imperioli’s expressions and reactions are so good. He’s a great actor. This show is good. Word just has to get around. I hope if they have to they will change the time slot rather than cancel the show. I will be soooo disappointed if it is cancelled. I also like James McDaniel. I used to love NYPD Blue, and remember him from that show.
pat krause on February 12, 2011

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SHOW!!! Michael and the cast are just fantastic!!! I have all I can do to wait for the next Tuesday @ 10 p.m. to come along so that I can watch the next show! Great cast, great storylines, great scenery – the show is just GREAT! I promise, if ABC cancelles this show I will NEVER watch another new ABC show AGAIN!!!
Lori C on February 17, 2011
I have been following Detroit 187 since it started and I’m very impressed with the show. I hope that it will not only continue into season 2, but far beyond. The cast is great and the characters are well thought out and interesting. This is a good show.
Tony Lee on February 20, 2011
There is less than a handful of exceptional 187-D like Michael who would do whatever it takes to get the job done. All deads were equal regardless of who they were. All the Ds in my city looked like wall Street brokers, so he needed a haircut to look the part.
rose on February 20, 2011
I also agree with everyone’s opinion as well! My only complaint,I HATE WHEN THE SHOW IS NOT SHOWN FOR WHAT EVER REASON!!!!
Catherine on February 23, 2011
Have been in love with Imperioli since the first days of The Sopranos. But he really shines in this new show. Love the cast, the writing, the character development – fantastic! Also great to see McDaniel on tv again, though I have to admit hard to get Lt. Fancy out of my memory. Tuesdays are now my favorite night of television!

Michael on February 26, 2011
Michael Imperioli – Blogs and fan sites are not where I spend my time, and I don’t even know if this is the proper forum, but I needed to say that I Genuinely Appreciate your craft and the time and effort you put into it. I look forward to you future work. Thank You.
Linda Fiabane on February 27, 2011
OMG….love that Michael Imperioli….I’m italian from New Jersey..he looks like family to me…I’m 65yrs old and he can make my heart flutter like I was 17 again. Great show…great east coast accents that I miss so much.

I love Michael Imperioli. He is sooooo hot. I love the character he plays in Detroit 1-8-7. He’s a no B.S. kind of a guy.
barb thompson on March 2, 2011
thebest show on tv this year…why they played a rambling, stoopid interview of charlie sheen, instead a new episode blows my mind!! let michael interview the sissy boy!!!
Judith Crowther Taylor on March 9, 2011
Great show, best cop show on TV. I hope and trust ABC is smart enough to continue/renew the show. It’s a winner. Mr. Imperioli is wonderful.
Brenda on March 9, 2011
I LOVE this show and Michael is a big reason I tune in each week. It’s the best show on television and we don’t miss an episode. Please renew the show, and if ABC doesn’t want it, I hope a cable channel is smart enough to snap it up.
bonnie on March 16, 2011
Michael…don’t know if you ever read these postings, but we all agree that you are quite talented. Thank you for your role as Det. Fitch. You also must be so proud of Vadim…he is a natural!!! “Detroit 187″ is a winner and so are you!!!

Michael, great show! Your son can NOT be denied. Excellent. Thank you for your excellence.

Detroit 187 is the best show on tv. I hate the thoughts of it ending for the season. I DVR the show everyweek and watch it over and over until the next week. I am madly in love with Fitch. Those eyes just make you melt. Keep up the good work and hope you never take the show off.
Nancy on March 17, 2011
I love this show. The cast of characters is so awesom. Cudos to the casting crew. Everybody likes to see their part of the world on film and Detroiters are no different. Pleeeeeease keep this show on the air.
DeLynn on March 18, 2011
Detroit 187 is the only reason to watch TV on Tuesday nights !! This show is so awesome , and the characters were very easy to get to know . As a Michigan-der I am very proud to have this movie associated with our great state !!! Please keep it on the air as long as Law and Order !!
bonnie on March 20, 2011
Michael…no I would never stalk you, BUT you are talented, very “fascinatingly odd” and just simply HOT. Your son appears to have an edge in acting and hope he continues to expand his talent and still enjoy being a young man in NYC. Love to you both and THANK YOU!!!
Mary Beth Reyneveld on March 21, 2011
Tonight was the first time I have seen Detroit 187. I was expecting Brothers & Sisters and almost turned the dial but was soon caught up in this fascinating story. Michael Imperioli is a superb actor, very intense, and very attractive.
I immediately went on line to find out about this terrific new show (new to me anyway) and was aghast to find ABC has plans to cancel this show even though it’s been nominated for awards. Please ABC, don’t cancel this show. It is the best.
Barb McHatton on March 21, 2011
ABC is crazy if they cancel this hit. Best new show this year. Best show on TV. Another channel should pick it up if ABC does cancel it. Great cast.
Irene Lau on March 21, 2011
Please keep the show going! Quirky characters, great actors and story lines. It also features an interesting city that is seldom depicted on tv. The only police shows I watch are Southland and Detroit 187. Both appear to be reasonably credible, daramatic license not withstanding…Please keep it on the air!
Fionna on March 22, 2011
I LOVE this show. Didn’t get into it until a few months ago. Great characters. Please don’t drop this show!
Philip Ladyka on March 22, 2011
This is for Michael Imperioli, I enjoy your acting in Detroit 187. I find it very enjoyable and I hope the show gets a chance on season 2. Keep up the great acting!
Barb K. on March 23, 2011
Dear Michael,
Please share my post with the cast and crew. I can’t write this on the official ABC website because they don’t acknowledge my password– so here goes, my love letter to the cast and crew.
ABC couldn’t promote this show because your behavior in real life wasn’t outrageous or scandalous. All of the actors came with pedigrees and were amazing individuals. Erin Cummings started a fundraiser — Mittens for Michigan (how appropriate, Erin, considering Michiganders live on a “mitten”). She and Shaun did a charity comedy event at the MGM. James McDaniels waxed rhapsodic about the Detroit Institute of Arts in an interview and called Detroit the “Paris of the North”. For that I’ll always love you, James.
As you probably can gather, I am from the Detroit area (born and raised on the city’s west side). I love my city, warts and all, because, like the little engine that could, we keep going. We have a rich history. The flags of three countries (France, England, U.S.) have flown over our city. We survived a fire. The Detroit Zoo was the first in the nation to have open air exhibits for its animals. Orchestra Hall is one of the most acoustically perfect performance halls anywhere. When I was growing up in Detroit, we had a school music program second to none, that included teaching music theory in elementary school. Michael, you and your wife would really enjoy the Detroit Jazz Festival at Hart Plaza.
Whether or not ABC decides to renew the series, please know folks, that you will always be honorary Detroiter-Michiganders.
(p.s. The fans are fighting for the show)!!!
Sandie on March 24, 2011
Great Show. Do not cancel this show.
Harriet on March 25, 2011
Absolutely the best show on tv this season. Never got the recognition it deserves.
I agree — don’t cancel.
linda on March 25, 2011
I just started watching the show mid season and am now “hooked”. I love love love Fitch and now his son! They even look alike. Only complaint is the show is on same time as The Good Wife.
Pam on March 30, 2011
Love this show and have really enjoyed Michael on the opposite side of the law from Sopranos. The whole cast is GREAT and the story lines are fantastic. Can’t wait for each new episode to air. I’m hooked! Got tired of Good Wife and won’t be going back.
Jimbo on March 31, 2011
New Orleans, day after Katrina, looked better than Detroit. Excellent show. I hope they continue to air.
Dana on April 6, 2011
I was born in a suburb of Detroit in 1944 and lived in the Detroit area until 1967. I still have family in the area and I now live in L.A. It’s been fun to watch Detriot 187 for three very good reasons; 1) Great acting. 2) Great scripts. 3) and seeing Detroit as the backdrop for serious drama. I hope to see this show continue next season.
Sally Charette on April 6, 2011
This is hands down the most compelling and complex story on television right now. Love the interplay between the characters and hope the show continues for years. I’ll be there.
janet on April 6, 2011
Please, please please do not cancel this wonderful show. The cast is the best on tv.
Each one could star in a show of their own, but as viewers we are lucky enough to have them all on Detroit 1-8-7! Michael Imperioli is beyond great! Look out for his son, Vadim!
He is a natural! Give us another season!
