OK, a first for me – midshow post. But this ep is insane. Fitch IS the man. The way he took apart that FBI agent – unreal! I would love to hear your opinions tomorrow, but I have to get back to the show…

“Detroit 1-8-7″ nominated for Best Drama at 42nd NAACP Image Awards

That’s right, “Detroit 1-8-7″ is up for another award. The NAACP Image Awards are recognized as the preeminent multi-cultural awards show – from an African-American point of view. And this is a show that without a doubt has strong African-American characters. The show airs March 4th on Fox at 8pm eastern, and I will keep everyone updated as we get closer to awards day.

A quick note on another subject – cancellation rumors. There are a lot of internet rumors going around that this show will be canceled. ABC picked up 18 episodes, and I have not seen any news regarding a second season. But at the same time, I have not seen word from any reliable source that ABC will cancel the show. In fact, earlier this month ABC chief Paul Lee said that he hopes “Detroit 1-8-7″ comes back but that the decision is months away. So take everything you hear with a grain of salt…

Finally! “Road to Nowhere” set for next Tuesday

Ok sports fans – we’re finally getting our show back next week. The episode, titled “Road to Nowhere” is scheduled to run in its regular time slot. As you all remember, Malloy is dead, and Fitch is the prime suspect. I don’t know – seems too convenient for me. But hopefully we’ll get to find out. As for me, I can’t wait!

Don’t Get Your Hopes Up For Tonight…

That’s right, folks. The official ABC schedule for tonight is missing our favorite show. The reason – that cornerstone of democracy, the State of the Union Address. Yup, instead of Fitch and company we get to watch the president pontificate to the members of Congress, and watch them pop up and down in their seats like maniacal jack-in-the-boxes to applaud wildly whenever their side scores a rhetorical point. However, if you enjoy the occasional drink of alcohol (like myself), a suggestion to make viewing the speech a little more interesting. Take a drink every time President Obama gets a standing ovation, two drinks for every time he uses the phrase “my fellow Americans”, and finish your drink if the camera catches a politician falling asleep. (Of course, drink responsibly and I am in no fashion advocating alcohol consumption!)

Hopefully we will get the resolution of our cliffhanger next week – until then, hang in there and don’t give up on ”Detroit 1-8-7″ – it will return…

We’re Back With A New Episode Tuesday Night!

Happy New Year everyone! ABC has got a brand-new episode lined up for tomorrow night. Tuesday night will see the squad investigating the murder of a movie star who had been filming in the city, as well as a young homeless man who is found encased in ice in a shantytown. The future of this fantastic show is up in the air right now, and what better way to send a message to ABC than to have it win an award for best new drama? Mittens For Detroit

Actress Erin Cummings ( Dr. Abbey Ward, ‘Detroit 1-8-7′) is giving a helping hand (or mitten) to her adopted city. Cummings has formed the not-for-profit organization “Mittens for Detroit”. In an open letter to the city on the group’s website, Cummings says she was inspired after a young girl came to her cousin’s door trick-or-treating. The girl was crying because she only had one glove and her hand was cold.

The group is accepting donations across the city, and you can find out the location of donation boxes and more about the group by heading to their website at http://mittensfordetroit.org/.

November 9th – Where Did Everybody Go?

Ouch! Taking the week off for the elections evidently gave everyone a case of amnesia. Viewership dropped to just over 7.5 million viewers for Episode Seven – down more than on million viewers from the previous episode. But all is not lost – there’s another episode coming up Tuesday. If you like this show as much as I do, then make sure to tune in. I’ll be back Wednesday to check on the numbers…

Della Reese to Guest Star on “Detroit 1-8-7″ December 7th

Detroit native Della Reese has signed up for a guest role on the new police drama series “Detroit 1-8-7,” ABC has announced.

Reese, 79, is an award-winning actress and singer, as well as an ordained minister in Los Angeles.

She will appear in an episode of “Detroit 1-8-7″ set to air Dec. 7.

According to ABC, Reese will play the part of Lorraine Henderson, an urban, working-class mother in her 70s, whose son’s body is found in an abandoned fallout shelter. ABC says Reese’s casting reflects the producers’ continuing effort to showcase Detroit talent.
